6 kinds of natural bleaching agents to brighten clothes without irritating nose or hurting hands

Many people are not accustomed to using
bleach , because every time they come into contact with chlorine bleach (chlorine bleach), their hands tend to become slightly dry and wrinkled Wrinkles, and some people don’t like the smell of chlorine-based bleach, which is pungent and environmentally unfriendly But over a long period of time, white clothes will still turn yellow, and some clothes will be accidentally stained with soup, oil stains, and coffee. What should I do? If you have to use bleach, is there any way to bleach your clothes without harming your body and the environment?

Some people also use some natural ingredients to make their own bleach at home . Its formula contains: 3% hydrogen peroxide, lemon juice, baking soda, lemon essential oil and water. I would like to remind everyone here that if you are not familiar with the characteristics of various bleaching agents, do not mix multiple bleaching agents at will, so as to avoid poisoning. For example, vinegar and hydrogen peroxide, mixed together, will produce harmful substances that damage the skin, eyes and nasal cavity.

Our goal is to find bleaching agents that can brighten clothes, not pungent, and not hurt the skin. Of course, we must also take into account green energy and environmental protection. Maybe you, like me, want to know the characteristics and usage of the following six natural bleaching agents, one of which doesn't even cost half a dime. However, there is not necessarily a natural bleach disinfection , sterilization effect, it is recommended to use other organic materials, such as pine oil (pine oil) and a phenolic disinfecting agent (phenolic disinfectant), the auxiliary laundry disinfection and sterilization.

Hydrogen peroxide

Hydrogen peroxide (hydrogen peroxide) is not only a stock medicine in the first aid kit, or a bleach for highlighting hair, it can also bleach clothes and remove stains. It is milder and does not harm the environment. Hydrogen peroxide exposed to the sun, will naturally break down into water and oxygen, are biodegradable oxygen-based bleaching agent (oxygen-based bleach). The hydrogen peroxide used at home to bleach clothes is usually a 3% hydrogen peroxide solution.

Put a cup of hydrogen peroxide every time you wash clothes, whether it is washing pure white or colorful clothes, it can not only bleach, but also make the colorful colors more vivid. The hydrogen peroxide can be placed in the detergent box and let it be automatically injected into the washing machine, or while the washing machine is filled with water, add hydrogen peroxide to dissolve evenly, and then put in the clothes.

If the underarms of the clothes are yellowed by sweating; or the clothes are stained with nail polish, curry, red wine; or they are burnt accidentally during ironing, leaving traces of browning, you can pour hydrogen peroxide into a small bowl and use Dip a cotton swab with hydrogen peroxide and apply it to the stained, stained or browned area to remove it. Never pour hydrogen peroxide directly on dry colored clothes. It will decompose the color and cause discoloration spots on the clothes.

Baking soda

Every time you wash laundry, adding 1/2 cup of Baking Soda to the laundry detergent can strengthen the detergent's detergency, reduce bacteria, reduce soap bubbles, soften clothes, soften mud and dirt, and make your clothes white and shiny.

Baking soda is suitable for standard washing machines, or high-performance washing machines, which can wash all kinds of clothes. Put the baking soda directly in the drum, and then put dirty clothes. Never put baking soda in the lotion box, because the baking soda may not completely dissolve in the lotion box.

If the sweat smell of clothes is too strong, you can soak them in baking soda in advance. Dissolve the baking soda with warm water, fill the sink with cold water, pour the dissolved baking soda, and soak the sweaty clothes in the baking soda for one night, and then wash them in the usual way.

Oxygen bleaching agent

Oxygen-based bleaching agents are more environmentally friendly than chlorine-based bleaching agents, are less aggressive, do not harm clothes, and have better bleaching and decontamination effects. Clothing made of polyester fiber, man-made fiber and natural fiber can be soaked in oxygen-based bleaching water, but clothing containing silk, wool or leather cannot be soaked. Although oxygen-based bleach can be applied to a variety of fabrics, it is recommended to read the washing instructions of the clothes before using it.

Chlorine-based bleaching agent is a permanent bleaching of colored fabrics, while oxygen-based bleaching agent only removes stains on colored fabrics, but it can make the colors brighter. Powdered oxygen-based bleaching agent has more stable bleaching performance than liquid oxygen-based bleaching agent, because the pre-mixed liquid bleaching agent, once opened, will gradually decompose into oxygen and water molecules, and finally only water will lose its bleaching effect. Therefore, the liquid oxygen-based bleach can only last for 6 months at most.

Regardless of whether it is an upright or drum-type washing machine, the oxygen-based bleach powder must be placed directly into the washing tank before putting dirty clothes. If pure white or colorful clothing is scorched by the iron, first add the oxygen-based bleach powder to warm water to dissolve it, then pour it into a sink filled with water, and then soak the whole piece of scorched clothing in it for 8 hours to one hour. In the evening, clean it in the usual way afterwards. If the traces of burnt yellow are still there, repeat the aforementioned procedure.

The more popular oxygen bleach brands, such as OxiClean, Country Save Bleach, Purex 2 Color Safe Bleach, etc.

Distilled white vinegar

Distilled white vinegar (distilled white vinegar) is a cheap natural bleaching agent. It not only brightens white clothes, but also softens fibers and removes mildew and mildew. General bleaching method: In the last cycle of washing in the washing machine, pour 1/4 cup of white vinegar into the washing machine being washed.

To make white clothes and linens brighter, first mix 1:6 (white vinegar: warm water) white vinegar water in the sink, and then soak the clothes completely, soak them overnight, and then wash them according to the washing instructions for different clothes. The smell of white vinegar will disappear naturally after washing, and it will bring a fresh smell.

Put undiluted distilled white vinegar in a spray bottle, ready for use at any time, such as white or colorful clothes, the armpits are yellowed due to sweating, there is a smell of sweat, you can spray white vinegar on the yellowed area and let it stand for 10 to 15 minutes Clean again. Or if you want to restore the dirty socks and dirty cotton dishcloths to whiteness, you can add 1 cup of white vinegar to the water, boil it in a pot, turn off the heat, and then put the socks and rags in to soak overnight, and then wash them.

Lemon juice

Lemon juice contains citric acid, which is a natural bleaching agent, which can lighten stains and restore whiteness to whites. However, it is not suitable for use in colorful clothing, because citric acid will also remove other colors and cause clothing to fade.

How to bleach clothes: Add 1/2 cup of lemon juice to a large bucket of hot water and let the white clothes soak overnight; then add 1/4 to 1/2 cup of lemon juice to the detergent box, or together with the laundry detergent , Put it directly into the washing tank, and then put the white clothes to be washed. However, before washing the clothes, you must read the washing instructions and confirm whether the clothes can be soaked in hot water.

Although lemon juice can indeed remove the stains of white towels and white sheets, its bleaching effect is not as good as baking soda, white vinegar and hydrogen peroxide, and lemon juice is more expensive and more troublesome. You may need to squeeze 3 times each time you wash clothes. Lemons. However, clothing bleached with lemon juice will leave a fresh lemon aroma.

Sunshine

The ultraviolet rays of the sun are also natural bleaching agents, so you don't need to spend money to buy bleaching agents, and at the same time, it can prevent chemical substances from harming clothes. In fine weather, especially at noon, the sun directly shines on the freshly washed clothes from above. If you are worried that the colored clothes will fade when exposed to the sun, then dry the colored clothes on a cloudy day or when the sun is weak. Many people like the morning sun, which is especially suitable for drying clothes. Drying clothes outdoors does not cost money, and without using a dryer, it can also save energy and reduce carbon.

Drying clothes outdoors can not only avoid the pungent smell of chemical bleach, but the fresh air can also remove the smell of sweat or other unpleasant smells on the clothes and add a fresh smell. Drying clothes gently in the sun will not shrink the clothes, but will be more durable. The clothes are hung and dried to prevent wrinkles and reduce the ironing time.
